Born in the Marsden/Neilburg area in 1992, DJ started working in the food industry at the Chinese Cafe in Marsden at 13. In 2010, he started as an apprentice at the Rosebud dinner theater in Alberta. He attended school at SAIT Polytechnic College in Calgary, where he graduated with his Alberta Journeyman, and Canadian Red Seal in 2013.
